Our founder, William M. Cobb, saw the need for shower doors that were above and beyond the standard, but even he may not have guessed where his company was heading. From humble beginnings, Coastal Shower Doors has evolved to create shower enclosures that act as art to transform the entire aesthetic of a bathroom. We’ve used our willingness to sidestep conventionality in favor of pursuing the courageous to become an admired industry leader.

Humble Beginnings

Coastal Shower Doors was founded in 1972 for the purpose of constructing and distributing shower enclosures for manufactured housing and recreational vehicle facilities. Occupying a 9,000 square-foot building on Atlantic Blvd. in Jacksonville, Florida, the company began with only three people, a small loan, a handful of tools, and a prayer. At the time, no one could have guessed the heights to which the company was headed.

Expansion

In July of 1975, Coastal needed to expand its operations and moved to 8500 Bay Center Road, Jacksonville, Florida. The day of the move, violent thunderstorms rained down on Jacksonville and the roof of the new facility collapsed. Thanks to the determination of Coastal’s devoted team members–many of whom are still with the company–what could have been a company-sinking disaster proved to only be a minor setback.

First Family-Owned Plant

In 1984, Coastal built the first company-owned quarters, a 25,000 square-foot manufacturing plant at 10530 Theresa Road in Jacksonville, Florida. We relocated again in 1989 to our present facility at 3700 St. Johns Industrial Parkway West in Jacksonville, Florida.

Coastal Launches Gridscape®

Developed in 2014 as a customizable multi-functional tub/shower panel solution, the Gridscape® Series quickly vaulted to the forefront of bathroom interior design trends. With multiple configurations and tempered panel glass, Gridscape® makes a statement that truly defines bath space. The first of its kind, Gridscape® is an ideal choice for modern, transitional, and traditional style bathrooms.

Vanessa Deleon Collaboration

Coastal added another groundbreaking design to THE INSIDERS Collection in 2018, this time with renowned designer and television personality Vanessa Deleon. Her trademarked "Glamalistic" style inspired a partnership set on making striking statement pieces.

European Expansion

In 2017, Coastal brought the award-winning Gridscape® Series to the U.K. market through a partnership with theshowerlab™, the U.K.’s leading manufacturer of frameless glass shower screens. As with Coastal, theshowerlab™ specializes in catering to design focused consumers, professional designers, architects, hotel chains, high-end construction companies and home builders through their 150+ retail showrooms.
